Choose the decision before the metric
For a scheduling problem, inspect filled time, cancellations and unfilled slots. For a cash-flow question, inspect paid amounts and outstanding balances rather than treating booked revenue as cash received.
Compare like with like
Use the same date range, studio timezone and status definitions. Separate cancelled appointments from completed sessions and distinguish artists with different working hours.
Check data quality first
Missing payment records, duplicate appointments or incomplete artist assignments can distort a report. Reconcile a small sample to source records before changing prices or staffing.
Turn a finding into a measured change
Write down one operational change and a review date. Account for holidays and artist availability. A dashboard does not prove that software caused a revenue increase.
